Tool restoration - Restoring old rusty tin snips from trash

How I restored pair of old and rusty tin snips. I saved these old rusty tin snips/ aviation shears from trash for restoration. When I found the tool they were not moving at all because of the rust. When I got the rust off I found out they are Wiss M1 snips. I removed most of the rust with electrolysis. I had not tried this before and I probably could have achieved better results with more current or more time but the little rust that was left came off nicely with some wire brush and oil. A washer was added to fit the shears better back together. I tried plasti dip type of paint to make the handle nicer. This was merely a cosmetic fix but I feel like the surface of the paint gives a little nicer grip compared to the orginal faded plastic. The clip that was used to keep the shears closed was rusted and broken so I decided to make a new one from aluminum. My orginal plan was to bend the clip outwards to ease the opening but I bent the aluminum cold and it cracked so I decided to see if flat design worked well enough and i did so I didn't redo the clip. I might consider replacing it with one that has the bend at some point. The snips cut nicely and the aluminum clip is easy to use. Thank you for watching the video!
